Building Tours are Back!!

We're bringing back facility tours, they'll just be a little different.  

We all miss seeing the innner workings of the many interesting and new buildings in our region but, you know, COVID.  So we're going virtual with the tours.

If you're willing to give a virtual tour of your facility or know of a facility that you'd like to see, please let us know.  The Programs Committee will work with you to pre-record the tour so that all you have to do on the day of the tour is narrate and answer questions from those in attendance.  Please contact Kelly Waters at [email protected] for more details on providing a tour or suggestions on buildings you'd like to see.

IFMA Central Ohio Officer Nominations Being Accepted

The IFMA Central Ohio Chapter is taking nominations for its Officer positions. Each position (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer) will be for a one-year term that runs from July 1, 2021 to June 30th, 2022.  All members are eligible to nominate themselves or another Chapter member for one of these positions.  Please note that all candidates must have a minimum of 2 years as part of the Central Ohio Chapter and be in good standing with memebrship. Nominations can be made via email to [email protected] and need to be submitted by Sunday, May 9

Below is a description of each officer position:


The Chapter President shall be a member of the Association in good standing and shall be a member of the Chapter. The President shall serve as Chairman of the Board; shall preside at all board meetings; shall select the Chairs of special committees; shall ensure that the Chapter is represented at the annual House of Delegates Meeting through a delegate selection procedure in conformity with any policies adopted by the IFMA Board of Directors; shall be an ex-officio member of all committees (except the Nominations Committee); and shall sign all agreements and formal instruments.

The President currently has the following responsibilities:

  • Oversees/runs the monthly Board meeting
  • Moderator at programs, tours, events- Program Committee
  • Pay for program, tour, events fees- Programs/Events Committee Chairperson or Treasurer
  • Moderator of the State of the Union Luncheon
  • Part of officer group (President, VP, Secretary and Treasurer) that can approve/deny scholarship requests
  • Monthly President’s report for chapter Newsletter
  • Lead by example by attending as many chapter programs, tours and events as possible
  • Represent the Chapter at Facility Fusion or World WorkPlace
  • Attend at least one (1) committee meeting for each committee every quarter


Vice President (“VP”)

The Chapter Vice President shall be a member of the Association in good standing and shall be a member of the Chapter. The VP shall perform such duties as are given to the VP by these bylaws or assigned by the Board of Directors. The VP shall perform all the duties of the President in case of the disability or absence of the President and, when so acting, shall have all the powers of and be subject to all the restrictions upon the President. The VP shall participate and support the Membership committee. 


The Chapter Treasurer shall be a member of the Association in good standing and shall be a member of the Chapter. The Treasurer shall collect and receive Chapter monies and securities; deposit funds and disburse same, subject to the direction of the Board of Directors; keep accurate books of account; submit a report at Board of Directors’ meetings; cosign all agreements and formal instruments, except those pertaining to the office of the Secretary; and submit a report of the Treasurer’s office at an annual meeting of the Chapter. The Treasurer shall perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.


The Chapter Secretary shall be a member of the Association in good standing and shall be a member of the Chapter. The Secretary shall see that notice is sent at least 7 days in advance of all meetings of the Board of Directors and of the Chapter and shall keep accurate minutes thereof. The Secretary shall maintain a file of all correspondence; keep a roster of committees and task forces; forward requested material and information to the Association; cosign all agreements and formal instruments, except those pertaining to the office of the Treasurer; and submit a report of the Secretary’s office at an annual meeting of the Chapter. The Secretary shall perform other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Chapter elections will take place between May 11th and June 10th via an electronic ballot system.  On Friday, June 11th, the election results will be announced, and the newly elected officers will be sworn in at the Annual Golf Outing.

Central Ohio Chapter of IFMA COVID-19

To: Central Ohio IFMA Members

As the COVID-19 virus continues to force us to make changes on how we do business it is the decision of the Central Ohio Chapter Board to postpone all events, programs and tours through the end of April. Since some of these are 3rd party events we are verifying to see if they are cancelling as well or changing their format to a webinar. As information is received, we will send out updates as quickly as possible. 

Through April, all board and committee meetings will continue through GoToMeetings and possibly longer depending on the virus.

The Pandemic Planning Process- How to Prepare Against the Coronavirus COVID-19

As you know, the IFMA Central Ohio Programs Committee has been diligently working towards finalizing the Bed Bugs and Pandemics program, which is currently scheduled for May 13th.

Unfortunately, given the situation unfolding regarding the Coronavirus COVID-19, we thought it would be prudent to have our Pandemics expert, Valerie Morris from Auburn Services, provide some information on Pandemic Planning prior to that program.
