In follow-up to the 'How to Advance in Facility Management' program at the Central Ohio Facilities Maintenance Expo, we've gathered a large group of subject matter experts to answer questions about the topics that our facility managers have asked about and those topics are listed below:

  • Energy efficiency- Energy engineers from Dynamix Energy Solutions will help you to manage your electric costs through smart building operations, which will include building demand and capacity/Peak Load Contribution management, as well as answer other energy related questions.
  • Water related topics- If you have questions about any water related issue, Phil Clark (Owner of the Tower Equipment Company, with over 26 years of experience in water treatment and cooling towers) will be there to talk about the following topics:
    • Cooling tower sizing, operation and optimization
    • FDA 510K certified water treatment systems for medical applications
    • ASHRAE 188 Guidance to help minimize the risk of Legionellosis
    • CMS Mandate to reduce Legionella risk in healthcare facility water systems
    • CDC Legionella toolkit- Developing a Water Management Plan
  • Roofing inspections and PM programs- Representatives from Cotterman & Company will be there to talk about how to take care of the largest asset of your facility.  Learn about roof inspections, preventative maintenance programs and other roof related topics.
  • Tree care and landscaping- Representatives from Brightview and Davey Tree will be on hand to answer all of your landscaping and tree care questions, as well as talk about turf pets and plant fungus and bugs.
  • Facility Management software systems- Representatives from Facility Management eXpress talk about Computerized Maintenance Management Systems ("CMMS") and how to use these systems to track inspections, as well as assist with proactive and reactive maintenance.
  • HVAC- Representatives from Daikin Applied will be on hand to tackle all of your HVAC concerns, as well as talk about mechanical services and maintenance.
  • Facility Management- We're working on getting a couple facility managers to help tackle the following topics:
    • What exactly do FM's do?- 'A Day in the Life of an FM' and talk about all of the things that you take care of on a daily basis
    • Ask an FM- Just answer general questions about facility management and needing a resource to talk to.
    • Ideas for entry-level programs for recent high school and college graduates.
  • Contractor access to Facility Managers"How can vendors get on an FM's radar?"- Some Associate members are looking to get a better understanding of how to get on an FM's radar and how to become a 'Preferred Vendor' for property and facility managers.

Also, in preparation for 2019, we'll be collecting ideas for programs and tours, so that our facility managers get the most from their membership in IFMA Central Ohio.

Location: We'll be meeting in the Auditorium (on the 2nd Floor) at The Electrical Trades Center located at 947 Goodale Boulevard.

Time: The program will go from 11:30am-1pm, with lunch, snacks and beverages being provided.

Parking and directions: When you arrive at the Electrical Trades Center, park at the rear of the facility and enter via the middle building entrance (the glass door behind the handicapped parking) under the large US flag.  Upon entering the building, look to the left and use the staircase or elevator to get to the 2nd Floor.  Once on the 2nd Floor, go straight though the door, cross the hall to enter the Auditorium.

There's still time to register for this very informative program, as you literally will have acces to matter experts and they'll be providing the answers to your specific questions.

If you have any questions about this program, please feel free to contact Matt Butterworth at 614-537-2306 or mbutterw2009@gmail.com.  Thank you and look forward to seeing you there!
