Spring into Knowledge
April. During walks in the park you can smell the wet dirt, see worms squirming about, birds chirping (at 5:00 AM), the sound of bats hitting balls, and parents cheering. All are sounds and smells of spring. Spring brings the sites of flowers, skunks, and budding trees. Speaking of trees, have you ever taken the time to look at the rings inside of a tree? Each ring is a life cycle, just like a young professional growing into an experienced FM.
As a new FM the FMP class is a starting point to gain knowledge on all aspects of being a manager. Combine this with a couple years of experience and you too could start to blossom into an intermediate professional. Being a good steward of the environment is an important part of a FMs job and by adding the SFP you gain the knowledge of the sustainable portion of facility management. Now imagine a few more years of experience coupled with the FMP and the SFP. The next step is the CFM, the top of the line and a certification that can take you a long way. IFMA is a great way to start the knowledge path of your career and the Central Ohio Chapter is here to help guide you along the way as best we can.

Are you looking for a way to network with your fellow IFMA Central Ohio members and get more involved with the Chapter?
The Committees in IFMA Central Ohio are what makes the Chapter operate efficiently and effectively. We have a number of committees that need your help:
Programs- This committee selects, schedules and coordinates the monthly programs and tours for the Chapter. The Committee endeavors to help members increase their knowledge and expertise in facility management related topics. This is accomplished by providing programs and tours that bring to the forefront topics of facility management that pertain to the working environment.
Membership- This Committee promotes membership growth and retention by providing new member recruiting events and encouraging new and current members to be involved in chapter events and activities. The committee also conducts quarterly new member events, as well as assists in welcoming/registering attendees at Chapter programs, tours and events.
I'm glad to announce that Emily Kershaw and Lisa Davis will be the new co-chairs for the Membership Committee. I want to thank them for taking time to volunteer and head up this fun group. At the same time, I want to thank Lisa Schultz and Steve Bauman who have been co-chairing for the past few years for all their hard work effort in maintaining the chapters membership. Good luck to all and a big Thank You!
Associate Membership - This Committee works with our associate members with questions and sponsorship opportunities. Associate members are an important part of the Chapter as we regularly tap into their knowledge base to help our Professionals receive the knowledge they need to perform their responsibilities.
I would like to welcome Jeff Havens and Michelle Hoffman to the Associate Membership Committee and for volunteering their time. I would like to thank Matt Jacobs who assisted Lara the past couple years for his time. And thank Lara Moon for her time as she hands over the reins.
Please congratulate Brian Leach (FMP) and Kevin Chips (SFP) on their new Credentials.
